There are a few cards that mention that the Hero playing them is not considered the closest hero for monster movement, what happens in solo play? Would the monster no move?

The Drow Duelist tactics say:

"If the Drow Duelist is within 1 tile of a Hero, it moves adjacent to the closest Hero and attacks twice with a pair of slashing blades. Each attack can be against any Hero adjacent to the Duelist."

Emphasis mine

The Heavy Cloak item says:

"Use when you Hero is targeted by an attack that targets more than 1 Hero."

Would the Heavy Cloak work against the Drow Duelist?

If I run past all the monsters using double-move every turn and manage to get one of every monster out, is there any way of drawing monsters? As Drizzt I can move 14 spaces each turn which is much more than most monsters can, I feel like they couldn't keep up.

Secondly, at what point is the tile revealed during movement? If I am running through the dungeon is the tile placed as soon as I step out of the existing tile? It seems a bit silly that you cannot see in front of you when you are in the middle of a move at the edge of the tile (since afaik each square in DnD is 5 ft.

Also, is the Driden supposed to pop up in all of the adventures?

Finally, what happens if the Dwarf Statue cavern tile is drawn. Does it just act as a normal tile?

Can the Heavy Cloak: "Use when your Hero is targeted by an attack that targets more than 1 Hero", be use against Encounter Cards, e.g: "Spellweb - Attack each Hero on your Hero's tile."?

I drew the Encounter "From the Shadows" which says: Choose the Hero with the fewest hit points remaining . Place a new Monster on that Hero's tile.", so I went to draw a monster card from the top of the Monster pile and drew "Stalagmite: Do not place a monster."

What do I do in this instance? Do I not place a monster? or do I draw until I get a monster to place?

I understand Monster move from tile to tile. when Goblin champion is within 2 tiles of a hero, it moves "adjacent" to the closest hero..

1)does adjacent means adjacent tile or adjacent square?

2)when a tactic requires a monster to move to the adjacent tile, I presume the monster ends on the mushroom of that tile?

So do the bone piles function as spawn points for monsters like Scorch Marks and Mushroom Piles do in the other two games?

I am just wondering because if all THREE are combined if that is what WOTC intended?

Or do i only have choice of the 5 heroes from the start.
Thanks

Still confused on some of the tactics on the monster cards

Mainly this has to do with monsters that start the turn NEXT to a hero, but have the first tactic as "will move a tile and attack the hero with least amount of hit points" and things like that

Are monster tactics null and void if next to a hero, or will they literally use that tactic and move away and seek the one with the least amount of hit points.

I guess I am confused as to what to do if a monster is next to a hero. is it just a plain attack or do you always have to follow the first tactic.

So I apologize if these questions have been addressed, I looked and couldn't find anything... but there is also like 16 pages, and call me crazy, I didn't look through all of them.

1.)When Bruenor BattleHammer Levels up. It says he gets an extra fighter daily power? Is this a mistake? When i looked through my character cards, i saw NO fighter daily powers?

2.) Regis' "special ability" where he looks at the monster deck to see what monsters are next, can he only do that on his characters turn.. or can he do that on anyone's villain turn? The character card just says once a villian turn... so it almost sounds like he could do it on every Villian turn, but that is not how i have been playing it.

3.) The only available effect of cards like "sudden hope" (discard 1 encounter card of you choise in play) is to remove a trap or a curse? Is that correct?

LOD is the first version we have played, and the rules are a little vague. We have been playing it so that only the active players hero moves in the hero phase, but it feels wrong, as all the other heroes stand still while monsters whack at them. We have only won one game, and that was a skin of the teeth thing, all the rest have been whitewashes.

It seems to me that the heroes should move every turn in turn order (and get an attack, etc).

Here is how I think it should go, correct me if I am wrong.
-Hero phase, all the heroes move
-Exploration phase, multiple explorations could happen from multiple heroes
-Villain phase, all the monsters attack

Comments?

Hello again,

I had another question that came to my attention. So i was wondering if you can have 1 person have multiple of the same monster in there monster draw area (Idk what to call it)? But i keep seeing references of this being not allowed. If that is the case, what do you do? Draw a new monster, or give the monster you drew to the other players monster pool??

Thanks.

2a.) Another question I had is i guess a two parter. My character is poisoned with 1 hp. At the start of his hero phase he takes the 1 dmg immediately, thus bringing him down to 0. So when can he surge and come back up? right away, or does he spend a round down?
2b.) After he surges, is he still poisoned?

side question: if Regis is poisoned and then uses his Hide ability, can he still roll to see if he gets a 10+?

Thanks for the help!

Hello,
So, I play with a group of friends who are very strict with rules, and wording of them. This obviously brings up the fact that we question many parts of games. This weekend we ended up playing about 4 scenario's in this game and it brought out some questions i simply couldn't answer for them. Thus I post them here.

1.) Wolfgar has an At-Will Power he can choose (i forget the name)that allows him to :Attack an adjacent creature, then attack an adjacent creature. The player argued that the card doesn't state attack a 'different ' adjacent creature, so he could attack the same creature twice because it fit the rule of the card, which was that the creature was adjacent. I wanted to veto that, but really had no way of proving (or knowing) that the game designer did not intend for that card to work like that. Any help would be great.

2.) We were playing scenario 7, (the first one with a pre-set dungeon. I couldn't find anywhere in the rules what to do at the start of you Villain turn in relation to drawing an encounter card or not. We played that, you always draw an encounter card, (until the villain comes out)and any of them that do not apply you luck out on. - like the one that says take the bottom tile and place it on top. Did we do this correctly?

3.) On Scenario 7, the main villains card says to flip it over to the demon/blob/thing when she reaches 5 or lower. Does her new form stay with the same health and status ailments (-4 AC from the Drow power) or is it essentially a completely new monster with full health?

Thanks for the help, and sorry for the length.
