Folks... treasure cards come with a price label on them (in gps). What is the use of this? Can't recall reading anything related to this in the rule book.

Thank you!

When the game tells you to move something "one tile" but doesn't specify the square on the tile that you should move it to, do you move it anywhere you want on that tile, or onto the mushroom? What if the mushroom is occupied?

I have a question, let's say the second adventure in the book, where you have to find the broken door, then the villain spawns and is trying to catch up to you... After the villain spawns the objective is to take the crown and kill the villain. Do I still go through my exploration phase and draw tiles, monster cards/encounter cards? Because I guess, why would I want to explore any longer since I already found my objective and I just need to kill the villain. I'm assuming I probably do, because I didn't see anything in the rules saying NOT to, it just doesn't work thematically for me I guess. Thanks guys!

Have any of you changed the way that monsters move and attack when they have a choice?

For example, if a monster could move adjacent to a hero in such a way that it blocks an escape route, wouldn't certain "intelligent" monsters/enemies be smart enough to do so?

Or in the more common example where a monster is adjacent to two heroes and it can choose which one it attacks, wouldn't certain enemies choose to finish off the one with 13 AC and 1 hp left instead of trying to hit the 18 AC hero beside him with 8 hp? (Even among real life predators they tent to single out the weakest and most vulnerable.)

Maybe this should be in variants instead, but it seems to me that allowing the active player to choose where monsters move to and who they attack makes things too easy for the heroes. In the very least it would seem that Villains would be smarter than this.

Please advise if you have some "house rules" that have worked better for you in situations like this. Thanks.

The bridge in the first adventure looks like it's two spaces but there is no black line through it. So can one or two figures be on it? I played it as two with the monster at one end an Drizzt at the other.

I searched the forums and know about the "squeezing" rule for large monsters. Still, I hot to a situation where the Ferall Troll cant fit on the tile it is supposed to move to in order to attack the closest hero. This is due to the fact, that the Drider is sitting in the middle of the tile and the heroes are blocking the rest of the tile. The troll couldnt attack the closest hero even if he would move "over" the heroes to their flank.

Any help appreciated!

I've searched the forums for SOLO Q&A "The Legend of Drizzt" game and couln't find anything so I started this thread to help us solitary gamers get some answers. If there is already a thread on this please send me to the right place by posting the link here. Thanks!

Now my questions are:

1. When do we use ally cards? Apart from adventur 8, where you use Wulfguar as ally, the rule book don't mention anything about them so I was wondering what are they for?

2. When playing solo in group adventures, let's say (Adventure 7). Do I have to use the (Big Hero Cards) for each other hero I have chosen or do I use ally cards instead?

I noticed that when I use 4 or 5 heroes (Big Card) they each have there utility, at-will and daily powers and it realy clutter-up the table so just wondering if using allies would be and alternate way to play and how it would affect the game play.

Are Villains considered Monsters? If so then can Cloud of Darkness be used on Villains? Also, does the Overrun encounter take effect if only Villains are on the board?

Cloud of Darkness - Utility
Use when a Monster within 1 tile of your Hero would activate.
That Monster does not activate during this Villain Phase. (If more than 1 Monster with the same name is in play, this power affects only the chosen Monster.)

Overrun - Encounter
Each Hero takes damage equal to the number of Monsters he or she controls.

Does Shimmergloom's Dragon's Breath have to roll for each attack against a hero? Does the Drow Duelist have to roll for each attack against a hero or heroes? I also remember some encounter cards such as Acid Spray that attack each hero, so does each Hero have to roll for the chance of a hit or miss or is there only one roll and if it hits then it damages all heroes? And the same question for Drizzt, he attacks twice so can you choose a second attack card and roll again or do you only choose one card, roll, and double the damage if it hits?

Shimmergloom - Villain
If Shimmergloom is on a tile with 2 or more Heroes, he attacks each Hero on that tile with a blast of dragon's breath
blast of fire:+8attack 2 damage
Miss: 1 damage

Drow Duelist - Monster
If the Drow Duelist is within 1 tile of a Hero, it moves adjacent to the closest Hero and attacks twice with a pair of slashing blades. Each attack can be against any Hero adjacent to the Duelist.
blades:+9 attack 1 damage

Acid Spray - Encounter
Attack each Hero on your Hero's tile.
+6 attack 2 damage
Miss: 1 Damage

Thread: Dungeons & Dragons: The Legend of Drizzt Board Game:: Rules:: The Regis Ally card

This is the text from Regis' Ally card:

"TACTICS
• If Regis is adjacent to a Monster, he attacks that Monster with a magic mace.
• If Regis is within 1 tile of a Monster, he hypnotizes it and that Monster takes 1 damage.
• Otherwise, Regis moves 1 tile toward the Hero who controls him."

So, I have played where as long as a monster is not adjacent but within one tile, Regis automatically does 1 damage without needing to roll which is better than what he can do adjacent?

Does this seem right?

I like to play solo with a single hero but if it is a scenario that is giving me trouble, I give myself an Ally card but somehow this one seems over powered.

I was playing adventure 4 from Wrath of Ashardalon tonight. Once I reveal the chamber does Artemis' ability still apply to the monsters being placed in the chamber? It seemed odd that I would be able to put all the minions on the other side of the map and keep the boss alone... Is this legal? I ultimately didn't do it. But I wanted to ask anyways.

I'm not sure if I'm using the Fighter Utility Power card CLAN BATTLEHAMMER SHIELD properly. It seems on each turn you can put the Stance token on this card at the end of Hero Phase, which is before you get attacked. If this is so, then Bruenor Battlehammer has 18 AC each turn instead of 16.

Thread: Dungeons & Dragons: The Legend of Drizzt Board Game:: Rules:: Do Traps/Encounters affect monsters as well? And when?

Four questions:

1) Do traps activate only on the turn of the controlling player? Exactly like monsters? Even if the other players step on and off 3-4 times on the trap's tile in the meantime?

2) The traps activate exactly like monsters meaning that they activate even if no hero is on the specific tile? For example, I draw a trap, it deals its damage and no one bothers to disarm it, so AFTER 4 player turns, on my turn, when we have all moved to the next tile, it STILL activates by itself and hits us (some hit 1 tile away)?

3) Do traps affect/hit monsters as well as heroes?

4) What about encounter cards? Do they hit monsters as well?

Thread: Dungeons & Dragons: The Legend of Drizzt Board Game:: Rules:: Jaxarle Villain question

Jaxarle’s villian AI is very interesting. It says:

“If Jaxarle is adjacent to a hero, he attacks that Hero with a duelling rapier”.

“If Jaxarle is not on a tile with a Monster, he calls a mercenary. Place a new monster on his tile.”

“Otherwise, Jaxarle moves 1 tile towards the closest Hero”.

So this can be read 3 ways?

1. Jaxarle is next to a Hero. He fights. And if he’s fighting alone, he calls for help (ie. place a new Monster on his tile).

2. Jaxarle is all alone on a tile. No hero, no monster. He calls for help (ie. place a new Monster on his tile). Then he moves 1 tile closer to the nearest Hero?

3. Jaxarle only calls for help if he’s fighting a Hero all alone on the tile. If there’s no Hero, he doesn’t call for help.

It’s the “otherwise” that confuses me.

If #2 is also true, Jaxarle can be monstrously overpowered as hs can also move to an adjacent tile after he scores a hit (2 damage!!!) and THEN if there’s no monster on that new tile he moves to, he calls for help and a new monster appears.

That means if the Heroes don’t manage to kill Jaxarle quickly, I can run through my entire deck of monster cards an a couple of turns.

Or am I missing something?

Can the Sudden Hope fortune card remove a Curse of Lolth since that is an Encounter Card? I know it's a Curse Encounter Card, so... makes sense? Or is the only way to remove a Curse of Lolth either taking a potion or losing 1 HP?

For the life of me I can't see this in the rules or on here...I must be either blind or stupid because it must be somewhere!

Does the draw stack of cavern tiles get placed face up or down?

Apologies for such a stoopid question.

Cheers!

Hi all, I searched the Rules forum but could find only a reference to Volcanic Spray.

On the encounter card it says: Each Hero on a Volcanic Vent tile takes 2 damage. Does it mean Hero ONLY or if the monster is on that tile it takes damage as well?

Thread: Dungeons & Dragons: The Legend of Drizzt Board Game:: Rules:: Bruenor and Artemis abilities

Hi, I have two questions regarding Bruenor and Artemis:

1. Notched Axe: The card's text reads, "Once during each of your Hero Phases, if this attack misses, you can use this power against a different adjacent monster." The thing that bothers me is "your Hero Phases". Is it to be understood as all Hero Phases of Bruenor, or the Hero Phases of the other ("your") Heroes in play? In the first case, Bruenor should be able to immediately attack after the miss. In the second case, he should be able to attack again once during the Hero Phases of the other Heroes in the game.

2. Assassin's Avoidance: The text on the hero card reads: "Whenever you place a Monster, you can place the Monster on any tile with an unexplored edge." Does this also include Villains? This should be straightforward, because at the back of the rulebook there is a statement saying: "Anything that affects a Monster also affects a Villain." Nevertheless, the Villain is placed by special conditions, that is why I am hesitant to apply this ruling with the Assassin's Avoidance.

I should mention that English is not my native language, so please excuse me if this seems stupid to ask.

Best Regards
